[Localization] Development of a Test Platform for Indoor Radar Localization

Agilox Scenario Setup

01.10.2025, Abschlussarbeiten, Bachelor- und Masterarbeiten

Description

Radar sensors are getting more attention in robotics as a suitable alternative for localization and mapping [1]. Recent advances from the automotive industry have brought new 4D-capable (3D geometry + 1D velocity) radar sensors to the market. However, these sensors to date are mostly evaluated in outdoor, autonomous-driving oriented settings.

Student work is planned to span prototyping the sensor rig, implementing the automated testing and recording pipeline, and evaluating different localization and mapping methods. The focus of the project can be adjusted to your interests and skill sets, as well as the type of project you want to pursue.

We are looking for candidates with a strong interdisciplinary focus and interest in practical work, with an excellent academic record.

What you will gain:

  • Experience with robotic software development
  • Work experience in an interdisciplinary team
  • Experience with state-of-the-art radar hardware

Requirements from candidates:

  • Programming experience in Python and C++
  • Student at CIT
  • Independent and self-sufficient way of working
  • Plus are:
    • Experience in Robotics
    • Familiarity with GIT
    • Working skills in Ubuntu and ROS2

To apply, you can send your CV, transcript, and short motivation to Vasilije Rakcevic and Maximilian Hilger for initial review (application deadline – 15.10.2025).
